It was like a dejavu for the victims of flood brought about Typhoon Ondoy in 2010 and Habagat in 2012. Viral Photo showing men pointing firearms at a vehicle along Edsa

A photograph demonstrating men pointing firearms at a vehicle along EDSA has circulated around the web, however points of interest of the occurrence have yet to surface.

The young lady who took the photograph said it happened along EDSA around "2:45 pm, meters away from Shell San Juan going to Ortigas" on Monday.

“I thought it was just traffic and I went a little bit out…I wasn’t sure what was happening but I went on ahead,” the girl said in a phone interview with Yahoo Philippines. She noted that all other vehicles just passed by, probably out of fear of being involved.

MRT TRAIN ACCIDENT: DETAILED ILLUSTRATION OF EVENTS

On August 14, 2014, an MRT train overshot the last station (Taft Avenue Station in Pasay City) and crashed the end barrier at the intersection of EDSA and Taft. It was reported that no one was killed but about 30 people were taken to hospitals afterwards, mainly due to leg injuries resulting from the accident.

Senate has approved Iskolar ng Bayan Act of 2014

The Philippine Senate has approved on third and final reading the Senate Bill 2275. An act which shall be known as “Iskolar ng Bayan Act of 2014”, wherein the Top Ten (10) public high school students of their graduating class, based on the cumulative results at the 11 final grading period, shall be given automatic admission to State Universities and 12 Colleges (SUCs) of his or her choice subject to the provisions of this Act.

This act shall cover all SUCs except the University of the Philippines because of its institutional autonomy as the national university under Republic Act No. 9500 or the "University of the Philippines Charier of 2008"; Provided, that the University of the Phi:lippines shall come up with its own scholarship programs for the Top Ten (10) students from public high schools.
Scholarship grants includes:
a. Free tuition fee and other school fees to the Iskolar ng Bayan in all SUCs;
b. Reasonable textbook allowance per academic year as may be determined by CHED based on annual inflationary rates; and
c. Reasonable monthly living allowance based on the cost of living as determined by NEDA for Full Scholarship.
